Hey, who cares? Everyone has a private life. If you like a teacher, well, ask him/her out and talk. You might end up with a very meaninful relationship even if you have to go through the "social" NO NO! that don't allow you to have a relationship with your teachers. Good luck!

That is not a good idea. As a student you are on a different playing field than an experienced teacher. You may have feelings for a techer and that is natural, however, use your head and don't act on these feelings. Acting on these feelings will only confuse the situation and possibly make your life miserable. It might be tempting, especially if the teacher who I am assuming is quite a few years older is interested in you. Why is heshe interested in his/her students? He/she should be teaching, not scoping out the class for a date. It is his/her responsibility not to act on these feelings. He/she is in a powerful position over his students and shouldn't use that position in his/her personal life. You as a student shouldn't put that teacher in an awkward position either. He/she probably knows you have some sort of friendship/attraction to him/her and it should be left at that. These relationships do not last long and are often just tempting because they are somewhat forbidden. If you still have feelings after you have graduated and he has approached you and you are okay with that, you could give it a try. If he doesn't approach you, I would move on and forget about this infatuation. It is often tempting b/c teachers care about you, give you attention, and offer help. It is especially difficult when they are good looking! Also, why are you saying love relationship right off the bat? Give it up for now and wait until you graduate.

Generally speaking, it's a BAD idea and if it's with someone in your own department, you could loose your job. Is that worth it? NO!

But then again, if it's a relationship with a teacher in a totally different department, then perhaps that's OK.

I've taught at a number of places. Some don't allow for relationships between teachers no matter what. Others allow it provided they're not in the same department.

Being in the same department is definitely not right because that could easily lead to alliances, favoritism, and potential conflicts if the relationship gets rocky or doesn't work out.

But if they're in different departments, then those things don't really apply, which makes it more acceptable.

it is generally a bad idea. it's like dating someone you work with. if the relationship goes sour you will still have to see and interact with each other on a fairly regular basis. and if the breakup is a bad one you have to consider the possibility of that teacher becoming vengeful. he or she would be in a position to cause you a lot of harm. and you would be at a distinct disadvantage.
it may seem like a very daring or romantic thing to do but try to think long term. the relationship, most likely, will not last and you are certain to end up the worse for it.

NO. The teacher will have so much trouble that if you truly love this person, you will back away NOW. Even if the college is lenient in their official rules, the social stigma will be unbearable.

while it is frowned apon I have heard of it happening a lot. as a professor there are students that will tend to fall for you from time to time. The best thing is not to get involved while that person is your teacher. If there are feelings it is okay after they are not your teacher.

Don't waste your time my friend, love isn't real. It's a mixture of chemicals which effects the brain so you feel attached to an individual and eventually lead to sexual intercourse to continue the species, nothing but a false reality.

if you care about the teacher, their career or reputation, dont do it. if you are serious, switch schools. its just not worth messing up their entire career over.
