You don't need to heat HOT water. I'm guessing your not old enough to shave though or you wouldn't bother asking.

To wash dishes, heat pools, take hot showers, wash clothes.

It's a comfort and convenience thing.

well if we didn't heat the hot water, then we couldn't take our dogs outside to play in the sunshine...which would cause blindness in elderly children...
