maybe, but it's increasingly difficult. such a person would have to have a tremendous natural talent and then put in many years working ground floor jobs before working one's way up.
actually, wal-mart is the ideal place for that to work: their corporate culture greatly favors promotion from within, so people starting out as checkers can steadily work their way up the corporate ladder.
the other way would be for that person to start their own company or work at a family company.
if none of these are options, then SOME post-secondary degree (even if it's community/junior college, an associate's degree, something) would be very helpful.

OK this is a good question. Yes a person who does not do well in high school can do well in business if they have the drive. The idea of school though is to learn. No matter how much you think you already know about business there is a lot you do not know. This is not saying nothing bad about you, it is just saying that the smarter you get, or the wiser you are, the more you begin to realize how much you do not know. Keep your mind open to education. Learning can be fun. And yes High school will pay off in the future. Don't fall into the trap that says "we won't need this after school" because often times you will need it. Like with your muscles, your brain does need exercises too.

First of all, it's,"Can I do well in life?" Not good in life. Right now it sounds as if you need more education. I'm not trying to be mean. Lots of people have done well without college. You just need to find a business which will address your talents.
Billy Joel (the singer) never graduated high school. I'd say his talent took him pretty far.

Absolutely! But they will most likely have to do it outside of the normal corporate environment. Corporate USA measures a person by their education and not expertise alone. It's a fact that in corp USA people without degrees make a chunk of change less than their peers (people who are the same age, same experience, in the same profession) who have degrees.

yes it can be done, but like I tell my kids, the higher education you get the easier it might to get a better paying job, then again all the education in the world will not help you if you do not use it and are not motivate. Just depend on how you apply yourself
