Heh they don't like this question. If they become gay then its a choice and they can change. If they are born that way then it could be viewed as genetic abnormality.
Id guess its a mix of both.

well i think that is a matter of opinion ...any gay person you ask will tell you they knew they were gay as far back as they can remember. Which makes me think they are born that way. Now saying that i also think it has become very tredy to be gay or bi-sexual with the teenage crowd these days. all teen want to be unique in some way and some choose sexuality to express that i think. I think truly "gay" people dont make a choice just like straight people dont choose to be straight, they just are. I have some personal experience with it because my 17 year old daughter is gay and has had a girlfriend for over 2 years. Everyone told me it was a phase and she would get over it but it didnt pass and she seems very happy in her relationship. They act like a couple in public but are not out showing it off so to speak. If it was a choice i would wish she wasnt gay just so she wouldnt suffer any bigotry but i still love her just the same

Not easy to generalize. Some are born gay, for others, experiences in life could turn them gay.

Gays are born that way.
The reasoning:
First off, it's obvious in nature. You can witness animals giving into their urges, and some of those urges are homoseuxal. Animals don't have the benefit of a good, thick cortex. They don't really have a lot of choice, relying mostly on urges. Humans have the same urges as animals, but our cortex allows us to make choices (such as suppressing the homosexual urge and marrying someone not of his attraction).
Secondly, why on Earth would someone choose to be gay? There are some horrific stories about gays being beaten, oppressed, and murdered. Who wants that lifestyle? A good chunk of teenage suicide is the group of gay teens who want desperately to live "normal" lives. If it were a choice, wouldn't it be easier to choose to be straight than to kill oneself?
Finally, try this experiment. Make yourself attracted to someone. Pick someone you aren't attracted to (I choose Roseanne Barr for this experiment). Now, make yourself attracted to him/her. You can't. You don't choose who you're attracted to. It just happens. If people could choose to be gay, then they could choose to be attracted to people of the same sex. This implies that they could choose to be straight and be attracted to people of the opposite sex. But it doesn't happen.
So, this is why I say people are born gay. It's just a matter of looking around you, especially in the gay community.

hormonal imbalances, certain life experiences (domineering mother?) choices and an unbelief in the Bible story about Lot and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah , claiming depravities. St.Paul also preaches in 1st Corinthians concerning man seeking after his own kind..My friend asks why would any one choose that life-style, and maybe he's right..
