How about this, the true Romans are Latin, but because the Roman Empire once extents Spain in the West, Egypt in the South, and I am not sure where in East and North it extents to, yet I am sure it was a huge empire. The Spanish back then are called Latin Hispanics. The Egyptian back then are called Latin Egyptians. I am sure, the Romans back then inter-breed with other ethnic groups just as today's Italians.

Some Romans have blond or red hair, some have dark hair. In today's Italy, northern Italian, and most Italian are either blond, brunette, or dark hair. Southern Italian, especially many but not all, Sicilians have dark hair and look like European Turks, North Africans (Egyptians).

By the way, "white" is the term use for categorizing race by skin color; "Latin" is the term use for categorizing ethnicity by culture, national origin, or geographic area. Italians are European, but both Central European and Mediterranean Europeans are present in the country, and some Macedonians and Turks too.

Also, I am not a racist.

As the two terms are used today, Italians are definitely white. Even though they invented the Latin language and culture back in Roman days, the "latin" of today means almost exclusively Latin America (the Caribbean isles and all countries south of the US), so Italians don't fit the bill.

I'm Italian and I'm pretty sure we are considered white. We're not from Latin America.

They--like the Portuguese--are considered white. However, I am 1/2 Portuguese and the latin blood runs in my veins, just like it does in Italians. We consider ourselves to have Latin blood.

Growing up in an all Italian family and neigborhood, I was told that we are white.

I was told that Latin people are those who are from Spanish speaking countries such as Central America, South America, Spain, etc.

in the U. S. as quickly as we are saying "Latin", we recommend "Latin American" bearing on people who communicate Spanish dialects or Spanish from the Western Hemisphere. maximum are mixed of indigenous peoples and ecu settlers besides as African, Asian and East Indian. In Europe "Latin" refers back to the Romans (Italians) who spoke Latin and colonized throughout Europe, from the united kingdom to Spain by to the middle East and Egypt. via fact of this there are "Latin Quarters" in numerous cities. Italians, Spanish, Greek, etc. are greater seen "Mediterranean" no longer "Latin" in present day circumstances. human beings from Spain are not at all seen Latin.

The whole topic of race and ethnicity can get so confusing. I don't think anyone knows for sure who belongs in what category or how many categories there are. Everyone has there own ideas and theories but no one knows for sure, not even ethnologists or anthropologists. It's funny, scientists can place all other species on earth into their own classifications but when it comes to our own species, no one can agree on what's what and who's who.
