I hear of poeple putting up screens in some way to keep sun from beating down on the compressor all day. I also have heard people setting up misters to spray on the AC unit. What have you done? My electric bill for a small house, two poeple, brand new house was $300 last month.

yes, a/c units basicly move the heat from inside your house to outside your house. you should try shading it and it would not hurt to have some water misting the coil on the outside. it is definitly pocible to make one yourself. just connect a solinoid valve up to the wires that power the condencers fan. connect it to a garden hose and run a copper pipe with small holes in it around the outside of the unit. the condencer pulls air in past the radiator coil(that surrounds most of the unit) and blows it out from the fan. wetting the coil will help take(evaporate) heat away from the coil. you can get a solinoid valve from any appliance part store. they put them in things like fridges(ice maker and water on the door) dishwashers and washing machines(turns water on and off electronicly)

Shade will help. Just make sure the covering is far enough away from the unit to allow good airflow. Misters do work but the AZ climate may not make this practical. Don't worry about the heat coming from the outside unit. AC system does not 'cool' the air, rather, it removes heat from inside the home and transfers it to the outside via the condensor unit (don't ask me how this works), so the cooler the surrounding air on the condensor coils the more effective it will be. I live in the deep south and the summer sun is brutal with the added bonus of 97% humidity. (GAG). Our best defense here is super insulation where possible and deep shading on the west/south side windows.

Shade the house not the AC compressor. Be sure that airflow around the unit is not restricted.

If you use a mister spray on the fins then be sure to clean them off periodically as solids will precipitate from your mist water, and air carried dirt will clog fins and reduce efficiency.

To save money try a slightly warmer interior temperature setting.

Additional insulation will help a LOT
When choosing a roof shingle color always make it light-colored (preferably white) as this reflects the most heat and remains cooler.

The St George Illawarra Dragons have a particularly good run domicile with at the instant in elementary terms the Penrith Panthers in the suitable 8. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that information fairly recommend bugger all in case you do not come approximately to play on game day however the Dragons are twiddling with superb self-discipline this season and this might desire to confirm them to the finals without dropping yet another game. Our run is as follows: Penrith Panthers Away Canberra Raiders Away Brisbane Broncos domicile South Sydney Away Parramatta Eels domicile whilst in comparison with something of the competition the St George Illawarra Dragons have the equivalent ideal at-domicile checklist (9-a million) and the ideal away checklist (6-3), blended with arguably the least complicated run domicile to the finals, we'd desire to continuously have the skill to win each and every game alongside with the Grand very final !! Edit: Sorrl Mel yet you commonly beat me, I had to get a minimum of one in earlier the finals.
