While I am not familar with hamsters in general, I find that animals have vastly superior vision in the low light of nighttime. If you are asking about absolute dark, like a closed box, then of course they cannot. If you are asking how well your hamster can see when there is only the low light from outside at night, then your hamster probably sees better, and adapts to the light change quicker than you do.

Since hamsters are nocturnal animals they have better low light vision than humans. What may seem dark to you is probably not for the hamster.

Also hamsters use their whiskers and sense of smell a lot more than us. They need to because in the wild they live in burrows which are totally dark and their eyes would be useless.

yes...he can. Hamsters are nocturnal..which means they stay up all night and sleep all day. They also like to snack a lot at night, so I feed mine a carrot, apple slice, etc..before bed. Hope that helped.
