Go to a local magic shop and ask about the Si Stebbins Stack. It is a simple system to learn and you can do amazing things with a deck of cards set up with this stack.

Also, look into buying a "Stripper" deck. If you don't know what a "Stripper" deck is, the magic shop folks will tell you. A "Stripper" is more limited than using the Stebbins Stack, but you can still do some impressive things with one.

You can also look into getting some specialty decks, there are quite a variety.

I would also recommend buying a basic book on card magic. Learn a few tricks and learn them well.

And last, but not least, don't tell anyone your secrets. Tell them to go the the magic shop just like you did.

Alright, first you ask someone to shuffle a deck of cards. Then you take them and do that fan thing so that they can see all of the cards but you can't. Then you have them pick out one card and memorize it (without showing you, of course).

After, you have them divide the deck in two. You pick up the divided deck and have them place the card in the middle. Put your thumb up slightly so that the card catches on it and is raised a bit on one side. Then you put the deck together, catching a glimpse of their card.

Once you know their card, give them the deck to shuffle. Then take the deck and start flipping the cards over in a line (face up), one at a time. When you get to their card, put it in the line like all the others and keep flipping the cards over. Do not let them know that you know what their card is.

About five or ten cards after theirs, stop and pretend to think. Then you bet them that the next card you turn over will be theirs. However, instead of flipping over the next card in the deck, you flip over their card in the line. They'll be shocked because they thought you messed up the trick.

I've bet money with this. Not that impressive, but It's a great trick for that sort of thing.

i feel like such a loser... lmfao, but here is one...

numero uno: before performing this one, flip the bottom card over so that it is facing up while the other 51 cards are facing down. the audience must not see you do this, of course. fan out the better top portion of the deck while still concealing the bottom card in all its deceit. john picks a card. you tell john, "examine it carefully, then show it to bob." while john and bob squeal madly over the king of clubs, quickly turn the deck over so that the "bottom card" is now on top. tell john, "slip the card in the middle of the deck." now, john and bob think that the king of clubs is safely tucked away in the middle of the deck - but you know better. you know that the king of clubs is now facing the opposite way of all the other cards - just like its co-conspirator, the infamous "bottom card" (that is now on top). assure them that the edges of the deck are all even with the skimming of your forefinger. say, "i am going to turn around for just a second and, by the power of captain planet, i will flip your card so that it is the only card faced down..." (or something, rather.) turn around for a quick second. all you need to do is flip the "bottom card" (which is now on top) over, and voila! the king of clubs is now indeed the only one that is faced down. fan out the whole deck for john and bob to see that one card in the middle is faced down. now flip over the loser's card slowly, with a melodramatic pause if you will. then shove it in his face. uncle meko taught me. wanna know some more? lmj_iv@yahoo.com
