I really don't think this is of any help, but thought I'd chime in.
I too was skinny. Like a recent answer says, its alot easier to gain weight, even when eating decent, as you age. I am 40.

I just went to a gym and worked out kinda regularly, but have no diet tips.
I would probably look online or tour a health club and get a meat head to lecture to you about what to do. Maybe look in muscle-oriented mags.
I think the best thing to do might be to join a health club if you have the $, and get a workout partner who is better than you, knows more. Of course then it takes 2x as long to work out.
Look online under "gaining muscle mass." I think the diet is the hardest part, especially with alcohol out there. But with guys like me around, which are common, you DON'T drink and you will stand out.
By the way, if you get big, don't do this tough guy stuff. You can't flex someone to death and don't know how to fight just because you have muscle.
I think it'd be easy to find the info you seek with all the know-it-alls in the world. Just tell some egomaniac that you want to look like him, maybe he'll get you started.
I understand wrestling coaches know alot about weightlifting.
Maybe you can meet someone local online who will guide you.
By the way, I don't know what your motivation is but I know a bodybuilder that told me you do get superficial women. I suppose it might be good to get laid. I'd like someone who knows to answer that here. also, your age is a factor. I am 40, so women are past that crap.
good luck

Don't be in a hurry to put on the weight. I was a skinny runt throughout high school, before I was 30 I could not get above 156lbs. But after that I was struggling more to keep off the weight. A lot of exercise running, pushups, and situps, had added all up and as I got older my body slowed down burning all those calories. Now I am a bulky 220lbs and, believe me, I long for the days when I was 156lbs. Enjoy while you can.
