A snake that big can be a danger to the neighborhood if it got out and was hungry... get rid of it, take it to the zoo if you don't have the proper enclosure to keep it. If it eats a neighbor's dog or anything, animal control might come out, fine you, take the snake and give it to a zoo or destroy it.. and you could get sued or arrested or both, either build a huge enclosure that is escape proof or zoo!

Well here is another example of why people should do their research before going out and buying these wonderful and fascinating animals. If you would heave known that your python was a danger to your dog than why have a dog around or vice versa. I could tel you to be sad for your dog or be sad for your python but I won't. IT is your fault that this happened and you should be thinking about ways to correct your faulty pet care abilities. I would recommend you call your local Herpetology Society and ask them for suggestions on a good and accreditable Reptile rescue in your area. You defiantly are in over your head and for the reptiles sake you need to find a more knowledgeable owner. Next time do your research like any good potential pet owner should.

A lot of people are answering your question, but from the sounds of it you just want it rephrased. So, here are a few-
"If your pet python eats your dog, is it safe to continue keeping him as a pet?"
"If my python ate my dog, is that reason to get rid of the python?"
"If my python ate another of my pets, does this mean he is too unsafe to keep?"
And, just to cover all bases, I give my opinion on the matter. The python was only doing what comes naturally to him/her. While the consumption of pets and small children is regrettable, all this says to me is that the python needs a more secure encloser.

Well that would depend on how much you liked that dog I suppose. If you didnt like the dog very much then I would say yeah, keep the python. If you loved the dog then I would say you could probably make a nice pair of boots, hatband, and a wallet out of the python.

You definitely should NOT keep the snake. You are obviously not a responsible enough owner to have a snake. There is no reason the snake should have ever gotten any where near your dog and the fact that it did means you are doing something wrong.
Give your snake to someone who can properly house and care for it.

well I would more than likely keep it. I would be a bit pissed that it ate my dog but accidents happen. Also to all the people who get these pets and think that a zoo is gonna take it when you get too tired of it or it gets too big. You are wrong. Zoo's are fed up and full of people trying to pawn off large snakes and igaunas.

Now how did that happen? Are you feeding the python well? It clearly was not the python's fault. Will you be next? Hopefully not. You should follow your gut feeling on this. A hungry python will eat anything....including you.

Yes. It's not the snake's fault that you let it out around the dog. How was it supposed to know it wasn't food? Or, actually, if you can't keep it under control, maybe you should give it to someone who can.

well that depends on how much you liked the dog. if it was a simple accident then you should keep the snake. but if its naturally aggressive and you think its gonan happen again (i.e. it can easily escape its cage) and eat another dog, then donate it to a zoo or petstore

If you realy love the snake you should give it to the zoo to know that its safe from any danger (if it trys to eat another dog and the dog kills him this time) and to know that the neighborhood is safe to.
