Not weird; they are mammals, afetr all, and I have heard they can be affectionate and even sweet pets.

I think the white ones are beautiful, too!

Nope, I rather like rats. They're soft and very intelligent; but in my house they'd have short unhappy lives. All three of my cats are mousers (although the Old master is 18 and has slowed down a bit) and they would look at any adorable rodent as a snack rather than a playmate. Enjoy your rats, my Friend. May they have many excellent years with you.

I have a hooded rat. He's going to die soon. They just don't live long enough.I wish it were a female, though, because they have better temperaments.I won't get another one any time soon, but I will eventually get one, when the baby is a little older.I have an unusual pet;a long-haired guinea pig.I mean, really long-haired.Like,he looks like a mop when I don't trim his bangs, which I need to do now because they are covering his eyes.Rats are getting about as common as guinea pigs,I think, because they are usually easy to tame.I just had bad luck with mine.He likes to bite.Oh,well.Some people are like that.

no. Actually my daughter has some for pets. At first I was freaked out but i do have to admit after awhile around them you notice that they have personalities and reactions like a dog or monkey or even a little kid. Scary isnt it. However I still think they are rodents

Depends on type of rat. If you are talking about city rat, then be careful because it is dangerous. If you are talking about country rats, it is ok they eat good things. If you talk about white rats from lab, it is fine, some kids in my country likes them to have them as pets.
You are not crazy, it is your preferences but be careful if those preferences could cause you infections. And if it is possible make them to have vacination for your security and their health.
I think you are a good person who likes to protect those animals who no one likes. Good for you!!!

when I was little my brother had bought a feeder rat that was supposed to be dinner for his python, well he never got around to feeding this rat to it, and it got too big so we would let it out of the cage to play and such. We ended up naming him Ratbo (instead of Rambo) and he used to hang out on my dad's shoulder and eat goldfish crackers with him, he was really a nice pet, never bit or scratched, and was very friendly.

Unfortunately for poor Ratbo, the python got bigger.

No --- I two skunks as pet's picked them up on side of road and took them to a vet. the next day and got there shots and took them home and treated them just like cat's. they ran around in the apt. and never sprayed. kept them for 7 months and then took them back to the wild. they were just babies when i got them.they sleep in the day time and ran around at night is that weird.
