Here are the basics of MP3 players.
There are 3 types of MP3 players. Flash, micro-drive, and hard-drive.
Flash players have no moving parts and are more durable. They hold not a lot of songs. (1GB-6GB meaning 250 songs to 1,500 songs)
Hard-drive players operate using a spinning hard-drive like in your computer. Don't use it for exercising NO MATTER WHAT. (20GB+/5,000 songs+)
Microdrive players store music on a tiny spinning hard-drive. They are kind of durable, but can be broken by exercise. (4GB-10GB/1,000 songs to 2,500 songs)
So, if you don't need to hold a lot of songs, get a flash player. If you do, get a hard-drive player. Medium amount=microdrive player.
iPods by Apple do not have radio and good battery life.
Other MP3 players do.
The best MP3 players are the iRiver Clix (around 500 songs), the Creative Zen Micro Photo (around 2,250 songs), and the Creative Zen Vision: M (7,500 songs).

A 5G iPod Video is the best. I will give you a whole bunch of reasons why it is worth it (I have one by the way.) First, it can hold 7500 songs. You don't see many MP3 Players that can do that do you? Also, the video capabilities option is wonderful. I have at least 100 videos on mine, a bunch of south park episodes, the simpsons, family guy, and 10 movies on top of that, and still room for 750 songs and over 400 photos, with 5GB to spare for whatever I want. And the iPod is one of the very few Mp3 players that can be hacked. I mean the real deal, playing Doom, Half-Life, Quake, and more games on it, writing text documents on it, painting pictures on it, and a whooole lot more. Look into iPod Linux, Rockbox, and iPod Wizard (for more info on this, go to http://iPodForum.co.nr .) And I could go on an on all day about why you should get the iPod Video. One other reason: once you have it in your hand the first time, you will never put it down. It's got a great look and I take mine everywhere. To school, on the bus, to the mall, my friends' houses, I even listen to it when I'm falling asleep. I'm addicted to it. I love it. If you get one then you will definately know what I am talking about. By the way, I was just talking about the 30GB iPod. If you get the 60GB iPod, then you can double everything I said which would be even better (the 60GB iPod is $400 and the 30GB is $300.) Good luck with your decision.

Buy the Sansa Sandisk 512mb mp3 player. It is really nice and I have 129 songs on mine and it's still not filled up. It even has an FM tuner so you can listen to the radio. It's available at Circuit City for $60

It somewhat relies upon on what you're wanting to do with it. while you're finding to have video games, song, and such, then i could advise the 8g iPod touch. I actual have it and prefer it. while you're finding for some thing to play song, come across a inexpensive, basic to apply mp3 participant ( could be got here upon at aim/Wal Mart/any superstore ), or an iPod Nano.

go to walmart.com and order an ilo...it holds the same amount of songs (twice as many if you get the memory card to go with it) as an ipod nano but costs a hell of alot less. Only problem is the battery dies quick, so if you get one be prepared to carry around some AAA batteries.
