I am looking for web sites which have example chord progressions which you can have a look at without paying a gazillion dollars.

If you go to www.google.com and search for chords and then whatever song you are after, you will often get many pages with the relevant chords.

For example, the gipsy kings did a (rather unique) cover of hotel california and it can be found here:
