LOL!!
You got it all wrong buddy! If you remember the Kid says he sees Dead People and those people sometimes dont know they are Dead. When Bruce Willis was Shot, He was killed and he does'nt know he is Dead... That is the TWIST in the movie, Bruce Willis comes to know that he is dead only when his wife drops the wedding ring at the end of the movie.

No Bruce Willis dies when the patient shoots him, the only correlation between the kid and the shooter is that they had some of the same complaints but Bruce wrote off the shooters problems as delusions and therefore didn't help him which drove him crazy enough to shoot Bruce. He is dead the whole time and the kid can see him because he sees dead people, only this time Bruce takes it seriously because although he doesn't know he's dead he does know that he let the shooter down.

The Sixth Sense is about a little boy with the ability to see dead people. Bruce Willis (Malcolm) is a child psychiatrist, and he is there to help this little boy reailze that he has nothing to fear from these people. They just need his help getting messages to their loved ones bufore they can cross over. the man that shot Bruce Willis was one of his pacients when he was alive. Malcolm (Bruce Willis), never knew how to help this kid, that's why he grew up and shot Bruce Willis, then he shot himself. Malcolm (Bruce Willis), didn't hekp Cole until after he had been shot, and yes, he did die from the gunshot. At the end of the movie, the little boy, Cole tells Bruce Willis how to communicate with his wife. And Bruce Willis (Malcolm) tells Cole how to communicate with his mother. This is a very riviting movie, and you will get lost if you don't pay close attention.

The guy who shot Bruce Willis was a former patient. When Willis is repeatedly listening to taped sessions during the movie, he is listening to the sessions he had with the guy who shot him.
Willis, after spending time with Cole, realizes that the guy who shot him ALSO saw dead people. He didn't realize this at the time, and wasn't able to help him (the shooter)..
The shooter killed Willis, and then himself, because he could no longer tolerate seeing dead people everywhere. He was scared and confused.
Willis was going to give up on Cole...he really didn't know how to help him. But when he realized that his inability to help the shooter was what led to the shooter's suicide (remember, Willis didn't realize that he, himself, was dead yet) he took the responsibility of helping Cole.
This led to Cole being able to accept his "gift" and it allowed Bruce Willis' character to rest in peace. And hopefully, the shooter's spirit was able to rest also.
Hope this helps!!

Bruce was killed by his patient prior to meeting the boy who can see dead people. The point is that Bruce doesn't know that he is dead and that it is the boy that is helping him and not vice versa.
