Two words -- lifestyle change. This is how I would go about it:

1) Reduce stress -- see if you can eliminate or reduce major stressors, or find a better way of coping with them.

2) Exercise -- everyday if possible. Try to get some physical activity in. Tire yourself out!

3) Change nighttime habits -- (such as working on the computer or watching TV late at night). Staring at a bright screen interferes with your body's regulatory mechanisms that make you tired.

4) Watch your diet -- beyond the obvious (not consuming caffeine in the evening, etc), try to eat foods that are nutritious.

If you follow the steps above, your entire body will feel better and more restful. If you make the changes and still are having serious problems, I would consult a health professional.

Sleeping pills should help do the job but if it's serious there are probably psychological issues behind it which you should look at resolving through other means so that you feel better. Either that or it's just the hot weather.

Take plenty of exercise, which will both help to tire you and to relax you mentally. It is important to clear your mind of problems and worries before going to bed. Also try having a hot nightime drink such as ovaltine, milk, etc.
