You need to first consider the law in the area in which you live. They may dictate the appropriate age. Also the crime rate in your area, how responsible your children are and how comfortable they feel being left alone. If your gut says it's too soon than it probably is. See if your school or church have an after school program where there are lots of adults to keep watch over the kids and each other.

a number of those solutions are so humorous. My get mutually is even as my son changed into about 2 weeks old and that i took him to the medical institution with me (i changed into rather unwell after giving beginning and had to have an MRI test) or perhaps as there a center elderly lady got here as a lot as me and requested me what sex he changed into. when I replied he's a boy she then stated 'he's too gorgoeus to be a boy'. What? I recommend why shouldn't infant boys be as beautiful as infant females?

My girls won't be allowed to be home alone until they're at least 12.. kids are easily persuaded to open the door to people they don't know and there are SICK people in this world.. not only that, but younger children have a tendency to get great ideas about cooking and stuff like that and could hurt themselves. Daycare's expensive but worth every dime if it means knowing your child is safe.

A Latchkey kid. At the age of 16 if they are responsible and know what to do in case of an emergency but I would still have neighbors and/or family check in on them.

Do you mean a latchkey kid? In my opinion it depends on how mature your kid is. I was a latchkey kid at 10-11 years old. My parents felt comfy because they knew I could be trusted and I was responsible. You also have to go thru the do's and dont's with your kid and different scenarios to see how he/she would handle it.

I wouldn't suggest any younger than 10 no matter what, but I was base it on the individual. You know your kid....we don't.

Good luck!

Well,...my nephuew is turning twelve now and this passed year he has been staying home alone for a little while after school until my sister gets home from work. So I think my answer would be 11 yrs. But i would evaluate how mature and responsible your child is first.
