Is your work worth $2,500? Did it bring the worth of the house up $2,500?

Yeah, it would be weird. I would submit a bill asking for the price you negotiated with the stipulation is must be paid no later than the close of escrow on the sale.

How well do you know this person? If it's a friend, be careful. Money isn't worth ruining a friendship. Also, how much time did you spend helping? It probably would have been better to discuss the financial side before you spent your time working on it. If it's a friend, I'd advise you to wait a while and give your friend a chance to bring it up himself. If you spent a lot of time working and you deserve some compensation, maybe your friend will realize it and offer to pay you something.

i think 1 percent is a little high.

but you can ask for payment after the sale ( get it in writing) or a small percentage. Depending on where this is, 750 to 1500 dollars sounds OK to me - but i am not anywhere close to an expert on this.

Either way, get it in writing.

Wrong time. If you wanted to be paid you should have negotiated it up front.
