Does the agency take a one-time fee from the client company in that case, or a regular fee? Will I be receiving my full salary? If someone has some knowledge about this, please share....Thank you.

I would like to add that this is not a temp job going permanent, but a fresh permanent job opportunity with this company, through the agency.

Depends! If you've been working at the company for a while as a temp, then the "agency" has probably been getting a fee off of each paycheck you receive; so, if you make $500.00 per week, and you're getting paid by the agency, they may be charging the client $700.00 for your services, thus pocketing the difference, $200.00; If you've been there, say 6 months and go permanent as a company employee, there may be a 1 time deal of a percentage of your total yearly salary; so, 35K for you and they may make 3500.00 (10%) additional; or, there may be a cap put on where after they've made "X" number of dollars off you, they can't make anymore; or it might've done upfront: the company may say we'll pay you $5000.00 total for as long as your temp works here...It's very confusing and varies according to negotiations.

I've gone through a few temp agencies - it depends on the agency, you will need to ask them up front whether or not they charge you a fee, also if they do not charge you a fee the company you work for will be charged , I was temp to perm twice and after I was hired full time I was given a raise - that is usually because they do not have to pay the temp agency anymore so they will give you a little bit more in your paycheck than what you were making but still not as much as they were paying the agency, I also really have to recommend Hobart West, they were the best temp/direct placement company I worked for, very responsive and fast acting...hope that helps:)

You are hired. They will offer you a salary and you either take it, counter and they take it, they counter your counter and you take the job OR you don't really want the job and you don't take it.

As far as the fee goes, why do you care? You're not paying it. The employer's company pays for the temp person, it is my understanding, after an agreed upon period of time. I'm a temp and I've been "hired" for a 90-day period. It's my understanding that I am expected to continue after the 90 days (unless I really screw up in the next 3 wks) and that my temp position is indefinite. That being said, when the 90th day hits is when I think they have to pay the fee.

Am I right? Anyone Anyone?

Usually the firm pays the agency for the referral. Its usually a small percentage of the annual salary. Depending on the agency and company contract, either the company might pay this fee or its a deduction from your actual salary for the first year. Yes, it is only a one time fee.
