I admit, I answered a question inappropriately, messaged the person with an apology, and removed my answer. However, the email that was sent to me by the asker was also rather rude, and I asked that the next time I be approached more respectfully. This caused another rude remark from the person. What do I need to do to remedy the problem? Should I just give up on trying to make it better? It doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.

You responded the best anyone could ever ask for. this other person may have been hurt but should have been more understanding since you went out of your way to amend things. I would just drop it and let it go. You much better than to lower yourself to their level.

You have done everything you can. We all say things we wish we could take back some time, and I am sure she has too. I am dying to know what the question was and what your "inappropriate answer" was. You don't sound like a sarcastic or rude person. On behalf of the lady that I don't know and the question and answer that I don't know, your apology should be respectfully accepted. So, consider your mission accomplished, seems that all of the people that answered your question agree, so let us all accept your apology for the rude person. Done Deal! Have a good day!

You have a poorly constructed self-image if you are going to let answers and emails from anonymous users offend you. Your remedy should be geared towards developing your "self" better, and not making your happiness (or offensive) dependent upon other people's silly opinions.

give the person u offended some time
maybe their not ready to forgive u yet
wait about a week and then just try again
if that person still doesnt want to then its not your problem any more
its theirs

you've apologized once, that is enough. if that person can't let it go then so be it. they obviously have worse problems than a rude remark from you. forget about them... they're not wirth your time or effort.
