I am very interested in learning the locksmith trade. I have been looking around and asking friends but I am still not aware of any hands on training. Sure I have seen the internet ads but when I sent them my email it was like I just gave it up to be SPAMED plus they called me 3 times per day so I didn't think they were very professional at all...any Ideas? I live in Connecticut Thanks

You've got two ways to go. One is to become an apprentice for a locksmith in your area and learn everything on-the-job. The second is to take classes and become trained in school, then find employment later.
Which is the better way to go? Both work in the end, and it's all a personal choice.

I would look into Connecticut trade schools and also contact your local branch of locksmiths and ask where the training schools are. It generally takes about 2 years of classes and apprenticeships before you are a locksmith all by yourself. Good luck!

Call a local locksmith in town and ask for an apprenticeship or internship to learn the trade. It can be very rewarding. I would stay away from internet ads for employment of that nature.
