I'm a junior at the University of South Florida right now. I'll be graduating with my BA in December of 2007. My major is Mathmatics. I plan on getting a Masters, also. Right now, my plans are to be a high school teacher, and an adjunct at a community college.

But I'm wondering what else I can do with a Masters in Mathematics. I just want to keep options out there for myself.

Thanks.

An old friend of mine majored in math and got a job right out of college crunching numbers for a stock brokerage in NYC. She made a mint. (Granted, her degree was from a very selective, highly ranked college.)

You could get a job in any most any business capacity with a bachelor's degree in math, and some good contacts.

A Master's degree in math won't open any more particular options to you, except in academia, unless your Master's is in accounting, or actuarial sciences, or economics, or business.

Bottom line: talk to your math professors, and also talk to a couple of professors in the business school at your university. They'll be very helpful.

Besides a professor and without any other training you really can't do much. If you have taken some accounting classes, and being proficient in math, you could probably get a job in accountancy. But you will need to take some extra classes.

Talk with your professors and others in your department. Find out if there are any research projects that you can help out with or internships that you can work.
