DIFFERENCE - The term difference indicates the significant variations in the characters of objects existing in similar conditions but, the term similarity indicates the significant coincidance in the characters of objects existing in different conditions. Eg. INDIAN - this shows the similarity. INDIAN-Hindu, INDIAN-Muslim, INDIAN-Christian etc. are showing the differences among the similar entities.

SIMILARITY - The word 'difference' and 'similarity' both have 10 letters. Both the words have 4 vowels. The parameters to find difference and similarity of any thing will be same in any condition.

Differences account for things which are not common to two things which we may be comparing. For example consider a semiconductor and insulator. Insulator does not conduct electricity through it, whereas semiconductor has a current conducting capacity which is better than an insulator but not better than an conductor.
So in the above example we were comparing the current conducting ability of the two things.
Now speaking about similarities, we have to bring things which are common in the two things which we may be comparing.
Example :We may consider the qualities possessed by two friends. Both friends may like to have coffee etc.
I hope this satisfies your question.
