Organized religion is total bigotry. Every religion in the world has been corrupted (not counting Buddhism since it is not an actual religion, more of a philosophy). Christianity, in my opinion, is the worst of them all. The Crusades, the Inquisition, the KKK...it's all the same.

It's such a shame that these religions started out with such beautiful, spiritual ideas. And now they're nothing more than packs of witchhunters and worse.

Religion does not mean hate. Humans tend to misuse religion for their own agendas and build up the hatred.

As far as religion and homosexuality is concerned, well the purpose of religion is to spread itself over larger numbers. Since at the time of establishing of the religions (even the major youngest ones globally are Christianity and Islam) the chances of having off-spring in a homosexual relationship were zilch, gay sex was frowned upon, especially by the Church and Islam- though Islam did permit male-hermaphrodites and female-female sex, in some cultures.

In the Oriental cultures such as those in China and Japan, homosexuality (shall we say bisexual) relations were not considered sinful.

Well, first of all, religion can be anything. It's just a repeated practice of earthly thoughts and what not. Religion alone is basicaly spiritual separation. It doesn't do anything. Hatred can be portrayed as a religious act. But Christianity is far from being just a religous practice. Christianity is a lifestyle that unites and encourages everyone to live in harmony, support one another. It isn't just about one person. It has to do with the love that God gave us and is still continuing to give us. Of course God gave His only Son to demonstrate or expose true love. But it's not just the idea of who died for us. It's how are we gonna sustain that love God gave us. So it's all about love. Religion doesn't come close to it.

Christianity and Islam are full of hatred for those who are different, but not all religions are like that. Paganism/Wicca and Buddhism both respect diversity.

I've been involved with GLBT rights work and activism since I was nineteen. If I had it my way, there would be federal marriage equality. As for the two guys kissing, I guess I would probably grin, feel gooey inside, and keep walking.

Religion does not have to equal hate. You can be against homosexuality but still tolerant of homosexuals.

If you believe that homosexual acts are sins that is fine. But that doesn't give you the right to discriminate against a homosexual individual (or any other sinner for that matter). Certainly acts of violence are sins themselves, and makes you no better than the homosexual.
