If someone has your user name in Yahoo and they have a password crack utility then there's really nothing you can do. Start with changing your password and then see if you think you're still having the same problem. The other option is to setup Microsoft Outlook at home and use the 'POP3' to forward your email automatically from Yahoo to your home PC. That way your email spends very little time on the Yahoo server so that lessens the time a hacker would have to read your email.
Just login to your Yahoo email, click Options (upper right corner) and sign up for Mail Plus....it will give you instructions for setting up Outlook at home. Good luck. :)

A hacker can get your password from yahoo a few different ways. But, almost everyway is due to the user (in this case, you) getting it compromised.
If you have changed your password and you think someone is still checking your email, they may have a keylogger installed on your workstation.
As a test, login to your email account from a different PC - like at the public library or somewhere. Then, change your password from this PC.. and change it to something difficult to guess. Add numbers and symbols... don't write it down, but memorize it BEFORE you use it.
Do not use this password from your PC for a few days - only use the remote computer. While you are waiting to use your computer, get a good anti-virus (buy one) the free ones are good (AVG Anti-Virus is free) but they aren't nearly as good as a commercial one. I like Trend-micro brand, but McAffee or Symantec (Norton) will do.
Scan your PC. If nothing shows up and you are sure that your email is still being read, then the hacker may have other tricks up his sleeve. From a different computer, get a new email account (google mail or hotmail or something)
Follow the above advice though, and you can be 99.99999% sure that you are safe.

If your password is too simple, easy to guess because someone knows things you might choose as a password, or you've given your password out, you need to change it, and choose something more complex and safeguard your password more closely.
Make sure you scan your system for spyware in case you're concerned about it, but I doubt that anyone cares about reading your e-mail if they were to capture your password.

Oh yuk! No way. That's the sort of stuff to leave to the neighbourhood cats. When Guy Fawkes night was popular people used to put firecrackers in letterboxes.

Change your password. Make it complex. Use upper case/lower case, numbers and symbols (# $ %)
Other than that, not much else you can do.

change your password, and do it again regularly. also, don't cycle your passwords (i.e. go from "god" to "password" to "imgreat" to "god", etc.)
You may also be able to contact your email provider (Yahoo, etc.) and see if you can get access logs for your account.
