How does nut grass propagate?

I have been pulling nut grass out by the roots and it keeps coming back month after month.

Nut Grass doesn't propagate per say, the nut in the main grass nut puts out smaller nuts (seeds) next to the mother plant, you can pull the mother plant , but the younger plants will soon replace her. Nut grass is one of those pests grasses that will respond well to chemicals. There are basically 2 kinds of chemicals that kill grasses one kind Will kill any plant that is bladed, the other will kill everything that is leafed, or clover shaped. You want to get the product that kills bladed plants. Nut Grass will drive you nuts!

I read about his today. Seems they grow on tubulers. If no more than 3 blades you should keep pulling. the tubulers will only reproduce so many times before it dies off. However if it's propagating in a large area you should dig at least 8" down to remove plants including tubulars and re-seed. Do a search on google. Depending on type....mine is purple nutsedge....I just keep pulling it and it eventually dies away. Also you can plant something to create shade and it will eventually die off.
