Minimum wage should start at $10.00 an hour, and there should also be medical coverage after 6 months. There should be bi yearly raises for those of us who work hard, and please don't forget about paid vacation time and sick days. We need someone to step up to the plate and make some important changes in this country.....and soon!

With the price of gasoline, energy, food, health care and the essentials we use I believe the minimum wage should be $9.50 per hour but at the way the U. S. Government drags its feet the next increase will be when Hillary Clinton gets into office. Mr. Bush if you're reading this I suggest that you consider incresaing it and not to put it on the back burner.

$5.15....anyone who is willing to work hard at something can find a job making more than minimum wage. Raising minimum wage will only help minimum wage employees for a short time, because all goods and services will increase in price over time to adjust for the raise. These price increases will mostly affect ppl like me, who have worked hard to get themselves raises over several years, because my money will not go as far.

Whatever it is raised to means that companies will just raise their prices to cover it. Everybody, including minimum wage earners, will pay the price.

By the way, I am unemployed and have spent a majority of my life working for minimum wages, so I understand the feelings that it should be raised. But everytime they raise it, the employers find other ways to compensate for their profit margins - higher prices, cutting benefits, layoffs.

It's unfortunate, but that is just how Corporate America works. You can't even blame Bush for this, it's been this way for a long time. Blame the Man.

I don't think raising the minimum wage will do any good. Think about this: For those liberals who want to raise the minimum wage, do you know who that would hurt? Small businesses. Why? Because small businesses wouldn't be able to afford to pay all of their employees so they'd have to cut back on employees and raise prices. It is likely that they will close their doors. Paying more money to employees means cutting back on employees and raising prices just to pay the minimum wage.

I think minimum wage should be between $8-10 per hour. Even working full-time at minimum wage, most people qualify for welfare because they fall under the poverty level. That amazes me!

Yes they can. They do all the time. You can't force the minimum wage too high--if you do, you'll drive up prices, and people will be in the same boat they were in before. Maybe worse.

Well I look at it this way, the higher the minimum wage goes, the higher inflation will go, which means I will be making the same amount of money, since I make above minimum already, and my bills will be even higher...YUCK

I think it should be $15-20, depending on the cost of living in your area.

Plus I think the law should force the richest person at the company to give up an ADDITIONAL $5 per hour to everyone ;)
