Because if they died on their legs they'd just get stomped on which would be redundant.

If they die on their back, its usually because they couldn't get back on their feet , so they died of starvation

they lose thier balance.....for good.....humans and animals (as well as insects) dont ususally fall on thier faces when they die. Its a natural act of gravity.
