Sometimes the computer will get painfully slow and I will have various programmes just not responding so I have to shut them down. I have a Compaq Presario 5320US with a 1.5GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor and 512MB of SyncDRAM Total System Memory so I am puzzled as to why I have this problem. My PC is armed with Zonelabs Internet Security Suite / Registry Mechanic / Windows Defender and they give me no reports of spyware, viruses or malware affecting my PC. Please render some assistance to me.

Increase your virtual memory.
Start->Settings->Control Panel->System
Hit the Advanced Tab
Hit the top settings button
Hit the Advanced Tab
Hit the change button.
Select the drive with the most free disk space
Select "System managed size"
Hit the Set button
Hit OK three times and Reboot.
That message should go away.

The answer is in your question itself.You have too many programs in your PC which takes up alot of space.You need to maintain a certain amount virtual memory for the PC to run efficiently.512MB ram memory is considered very minimum in todays technology world.I suggest either you delete some of the programs or increase your ram to the maximum for your PC to work fast and efficiently.There is no other way u can run away from this.

Virtual Memory is HD space. You need a larger HD or delete some stuff off yours to make more room.

but if you still wanna know.
when your computer runs out of ram, your os moves some of the ram onto your hd. now when space runs out in this "page" file, your os will say virtual memory low, increasing page size or something like that.
it means that it is making the ram file bigger.

it means that u can get viruses on your computer if u don't scan the viruses u do this by going and installing Virtual Memory then click scan
