If I Start A Blog How Do I Get The Maximum Exposure For It?

Question

Say I get something like a Live Journal Account and start a blog, how can I get the maximum amount of people to view the blog?

My reasons are purely selfish. I figure the more people who see my artwork the more likely I'll sell more paintings.

Any suggestions about getting attention for a blog?
