Because they concentrated too much on pleasing the audience with familiar characters (Barbose is DEAD!!!! and Norrington was completely useless in the second movie...the whole premise of how his life was ruined was unexplained and not even alluded to in the first) and references to the first movie (" why is the rum always gone." straight up cheesy)

The story SUCKED. I mean, really really bad. One major pet peeve was the jar of dirt. They made such a big deal about it and how Davy Jones can only go on land once every 10 years, and that thing has no purpose after a 10 minute scene is dedicated to introducing it. Captain Jack Sparrow was a shell of a character, along with all the other leads...just completely static characters.

Man I hated it, especially since it bastardized the first movie so much, which was totally awesome.

THANK YOU!!! Finally sum1 else that thought it sucked! I hated it with a passion. I could go on 4ever annalyzing y it was so bad. But I wont cuz my reasons 4 disliking it r probly 110% different than your reasons. I'm just glad 2 c that sum1 else didn;t like it 2. I thought I was the only 1. And by the way . . . unlike some ppl . . . I thought the lines: "Y is the rum always gone" and "I've got a jar of dirt, I've got a jar of dirt!!!" were pretty funni! It was the rest that I hated. And the whole "no conclusion" thing really bugged me! I hate when movies leave u hanging like that. I mean I didn't go 2 c "Gone With The Wind!" Y coudn't they give it an actual ending like the first 1. That just tells me that the writers thought that it wasn't a good enough movie 4 ppl 2 want 2 go back 2 c the 3rd movie, so they had 2 leave you wondering so u'd come back again.

It's a swing film ( the second film of a trilogy) so it cannot resolve anything.

It can move the plot along, but must leave all complete resolution to the concluding film.

It was also 20-30 minutes too long and some juducious editing would have made it run tighter and, therefore, better.

it was good, not as good as the original...

at least i am glad they are bringing back Barbosa, the coolest pirate this side of the seven seas. Not to mention, Geoffrey Rush is the most underated actor ever.

....Because you wanted a PLOT and an ENDING,----both of which POTC 2 lacks. I am most worried for POTC 3. The film, this time, MUST be carried by the script because too much was left undone and unresolved in POTC 2.

I think it was really good. The disappointment is that it is the
2nd of 3 movies and it left you hanging so the best is yet to come!

its a dissapointment because as far as we know they left it as jack sparrow is dead, elizibeth is a trader, and barbosa is back from the dead, i was really upset comming out of the theater, but then i thought hey, everything will make sense in the third one.

I didn't think it was. I loved it. But some of the characters were just too much. It just wasn't very believable.
