I have a promise ring. I wear it all the time, 24/7, like I would a wedding ring. To me, it means that my fiance will always be there for me, will be true to me and not cheat, will marry me someday, that I am his one and only and he is my one and only, etc. It means that he is serious about us, the relationship, and us getting married one day. Men can wear promise rings. My best friends husband had one that he wore until they got married. I guess it depends on the guy, if he wants to do that or not.

Long time ago, back in the eighties, I bought my girlfirend a promise ring. A promise ring is just a silly thing kids give to eachother before they are really serious about a long term relationship or the big "M". You're just playing around. If I had any real intentions, it should have been an engagement ring, pure and simple.
For the record, her promise ring had a ruby, which is a mistake to give to someone you're trying to keep. Rubies represent independence. Needless to say, within 48 hours she had literally thrown the ring at my face and we had a messy, terrible breakup.
Men don't generally wear promise rings. Get real. Of course, I currently have a huge tattoo of my wife's name on my arm, which everyone knows is a serious mistake. Love lasts forever, but tattoos last for six months more.

I feel a promise ring is the gentleman's commitment to a girl, telling her that he is very serious about her. I suppose an engagement would be soon to follow. I would also warn against handing out a promise ring too early, and then waiting for a long period of time. It is also the girl's responsibility to let the guy know if she is not ready for marriage and he is, this goes vice versa. I haven't ever heard of a guy getting a promise ring, but that's not to say it can't be given =]

I never had a promise ring, I got the engagement ring instead which actually I was happy about cause I think promise rings are kind of a joke. My cousin just recently got one from a man she's been dating for 5 years and just had his child, only because she's been pushing to get married. In my eyes it shows that he just wants to shut her up but he dosent want to make a commitment to her.

No men dont wear them, but a promise ring is just that. A promise to be faithful and supportive of your partner, without being married

Yes, men wear promise rings. This from what I understand is becoming popular with the claddagh rings, from Ireland. It can mean anything, really, between you and another person. Usually a promise of marriage.
I personally kept a ring to keep a promise to myself, AKA purity rings.

My gentleman gave me a 3 stone diamond promise ring. I wear it all the time. What it means to us is commitment. We're commited to each other until we're ready to be engaged, which commits us to be ready for marraige. Basically, he gave me this ring, and with it his heart. I also gave him one. A silver band with 9 stars on it. He wears his all the time as well. I gave him his, and with it my heart. The way he gave it to me was purely romantic, and I love him, very much, and I know he's the man I'm going to marry. I hope this helps. :)

if there is love the promise ring is not necesary hun, thats something you do in high school when your a kid....so uh if your going to get a promise ring its the same as an engagment ring....it means nothing unless the intentions behind it are true.
