If you are me you do not like the idea of this...

If you agree and use yahoo you should read on...

Yahoo is planting cookies to monitor your activity.
Computer specific. Continuous even when not logged on
to Yahoo. Here's how to OPT OUT.

From Norm Berns, moderator for the Budgeting Group

Yahoo is Tracking Group Members

If you belong to ANY Yahoo Groups - including this one
- be aware that Yahoo is now using "Web Beacons" to
track every Yahoo Group user. It's similar to
cookies, but allows Yahoo to record every website and
every group you visit, even when you're not connected
to Yahoo.

Look at their updated privacy statement at
<
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy>

About half-way down the page, in the section on
cookies, you will see a link
that says WEB BEACONS.

Click on the phrase "Web Beacons." On the page that
opens, find a paragraph entitled "Outside the Yahoo
Network."

In that section find a little "Click Here to Opt Out"
link that will let you
"opt-out" of their snooping. Be careful! NOT to click
on the next button
shown. It is an "Opt Back In" button that, if clicked,
will UNDO the
opt-out.

Note that Yahoo's invasion of your privacy - and your
ability to opt-out of
it - is not user-specific. It is MACHINE specific.
That means you will have
to opt-out on every computer (and browser) you use.

Try not to be so paranoid.

Cookies are harmless. A company can only open the cookies THEY place on your computer. The most they can do with them is track where you've been on their own website. Which to me, sounds justified. Why shouldn't they track where you've been on their servers? It is THEIR servers after all.

If you don't like how a company uses cookies, don't connect to their web servers.

BTW... Cookies are nothing. You'd be suprised the information a company gets from you by just viewing their webpage. The only way to stop it is to stay off the web.

Yes, I knew that. I know some IT people. It makes me uncomfortable, but the company wants profits and to get profits, it's employees must work, that is what they are paid to do. This is their equipment, it is their right to monitor it's usage.

That's why many companies went to a radio phone instead of cell phones - too many "personal" calls at the companies expense.

Yes, I do understand your concern. We all need to be aware that everyone is watching everyone.

SURPRISE!!!!!

Welcome to the world of the Internet People!

and NO, I don't like it. That's why my settings on My computer delete ALL Cookies, History, and any other Internet tracking software placed on my computer from visiting a site.

A lot of cookies and history are useful, BUT too many are not, so I delete them ALL. (Automatically, Daily)

Most all places on the net track your activities. They all use cookies, you can delete your cookies every once in awhile and you can set your security level up also. But other then that get used to it... sucks but that's life.

What's wrong with tracking information to make the internet more user friendly?

You are sadly mistaken if you think they are the only ones doing this. They are probably the only ones that actually tell you that they do this.

Big brother is inevitable. Don't do anything you don't want people to know about. DUH!
