Become a criminal. According to the Republicans, all of them have them. Maybe they hand them out at the door when you go in, or you may have to pass an entry exam first. Doubtful though, most of them are dumber than Bush which is saying a mouthfull.

I live in CA and I'm a registered handgun owner. The process is fairly simple.
First of all, you cannot purchase a gun if you are a convicted felon. However, if you have gone through the process of getting your rights back, you may. It depends on the terms of the pardon. If you have ever been convicted of domestic violence, forget it! No gun, no way.
For a handgun, you must first take and pass a test. The test has 2 parts. One part written and one part demonstrating that you know how to load, unload, retrieve a lodged bullet, and properly install a trigger lock. After passing the test, you choose your gun and pay for it as well as a trigger lock. No trigger lock, no gun! You submit you CA drivers License/State ID and fill out the required documents provided by the gun dealer. (He also administers your test). You will be given a date and time to return to pick up your gun. It is usually between a week to 10 days. When you return, if your background check was clear your gun is waiting for you. At that time you are also issue a handgun card that allows you to buy up to 1 gun every 30 days for 5 years.
For shotguns and rifles the waiting period is the same but there is no test. In order to get a hunting license you must take a 2 week course provided by the NRA.
For more information you can contact the Department of Justice or your local sheriff. All reputable gun shop owners also have the latest info and current handgun safety book you should study before taking the test.

Ask a gun dealer or your local police department what the requirements are in California. It is a big responsibility to own a gun. You may be required to take a gun safety course to learn how to shoot a gun and how to properly care for it. I believe that in Los Angeles county it may be illegal to own a gun if you are not in law enforcement. I do not know what the other counties say about owning a gun.

LOCAL GUN LAWS - PREEMPTION
May cities enact laws stronger than the state's? Yes

California - State law allows cities to enact local gun laws to regulate firearms that are stronger than state law or that fill loopholes in state law and many state laws began as city or county ordinances. But local governments are restricted in "licensing" or "registering" firearms.

Many of California's gun laws began as local ordinances. In addition, some local jurisdictions have restricted the sale of ultra-compact handguns, restricted the sale of 50-caliber sniper rifles, required gun dealers to keep records on ammunition sales, restricted where gun dealers operate, and prohibited gun shows on local government property.

If it was a felony, all your rights to own a gun are void. If not, you can just go buy one at the gun store, they will do a background check with the FBI.

Nope most places you cant get one if you have a criminal record.

California is the toughest of them all and you could be perfect and never did anything and not get a gun.
