Actually, you can never know to much, the truth of the matter is there is not enough knowledge being passed on no-one cares about the things that are going on, we are giving the wrong things to know about example if you asked a grown man/woman where is leb they wouldn't know unless it's someone who follows current affairs and news, ask them about a favourite soap or show they'd get it in an instant fact of the matter is, some people care a little more about the wrong things the media is feeding them than they should be caring about the right things like war, famine, etc. The media was actually invented because it was meant to be the voice of the people against unfair government just as the government was invented to be the voice of the people, well now the true voice of the people are the people and its the people who hunger for the knowledge of the truth, we are weaker when we have no knowledge of whats happening around because it will affect us in some way or the other

Do you mean knowledge in general
or the knowledge of a general.

If you mean the first, I totally disagree. To not have an education is to be at the whim and mercy of others. Ask yourself, why do tyrants like to burn books. Finnegan above has excellent points and I totally agree with Paul Dalby below when he says knowledge is not power per se.

If you mean the second, there are some things best left unsaid but the big question is who is deciding what not to say and why are they deciding it? What checks and balances do we have on these decisions and are they being effectively utilized or are they compromised? I am not implying they are, I am just addressing the continuous need for assurance.

Don't confuse the glut of media with access to knowledge. All that is populating newsstands and grocery checkout counters is so much visual noise. It's purpose is to overwhelm the consumer and dilute one's ability to see through the avalanche of feckless opinion. What is not mentioned in your question is the need for individuals to have a discerning mind in order to separate the s**t from the shinola. A critical mind is necessary in these times now more than ever. One needs to learn where to find knowledge and how to digest it.

Ignorance is a nightmare actually and as far as knowledge goes it's the bedrock of your character but not the foundation of your being.

Knowledge isn't power btw, you can be the most learned person on the planet and be a complete nobody.

And you can know too much too young...

Weaker... WHY?

1. We are now P.C. crazy in a time where we should all have equal opinion's on each others cultures, we all have access to information to make our own minds up after all! Instead of bringing the world together it seems to drive a wedge between us all now as we all seem to desperately grab for our own individuality whilst buying into being accepted by society (clothes, money, cars, trophy partners etc. etc.) PHEW!!!

Knowledge IS power. To be keep in the dark makes you susceptible to being fooled.
Besides, you don't honestly think "they" tell you everything, do you? Believe me, joe public is on a need-to-know basis.

Empower yourself....read everything...hear both sides...make your own judgments.

The more I learn...the more I understand how much I don't know...and sometimes, I wish I didn't know...because with knowledge comes responsibility...and I can no longer stick my head in the sand...no matter, how great a temptation it is to me. Sometimes, it is nice to not know.
