I think our societies priorities and morals have changed drastically just in the past 10 years alone. Marriage is hard and should be a lifetime commitment between husband and wife. I think many were raised with parents who are divorced. My husbands are and my grandma and grandpa were. People are more afraid to commit when there are so many divorces. However, I have been married for 9 years, I got married at age 19 and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Co-habition has taken the place of marriage also because people are having sex more and more quickly than they used to just 20 years ago. It's sadly becomming the "norm". I will always be faithful to my spouse, it's all about being commited to one another and pledging to serve and love one another till death do you part. Or in my faith actually for time and all eternity

I think a lot of it has to do w/ woman nowadays.
We have more options & thus more freedoms.
The women I speak to now are in less of a hurry & just less interested in what they believe to be the confines of marriage.
At least until they've either accomplished more in their own right & had a bit more time to experience life.
Its not that we don't want companionship - we're just less willing to be the ones that make all the concessions (there is a bit of a power shift occuring).

Cause divorce is a long hard battle that can take years and tons of money. It's easier to NOT have the man-made ties that bound, but those that are spiritual and emotional in nature.

They don't need to get married, they can have relations without the fear of critisism. Nobody wants to really committ anymore, they all want to do their own thing. No strings attached, they can leave, and get someone else. Sad, but true, Garnet

Well....
Our society today, focuses on sex...promotion of sex, and you don't have to be married anymore to do it. so our children, and the young teenagers are growing up seeing all of this. they figure, if you can live together, have sex, and live that type of life, why get married? today's society knows NO morals, and no ethical standards...anything goes...frankly is saddens me. I'm very scared to see the world that my children will have to grow up in...

Because they are comfortable in their relationship, and for some of them it's just a piece of paper.
