I maxed out on answering questions today, and I didn't get to answer one about the Rolling Stones, so I'll ask one instead.

I've been a big U2 fan for a LONG time (since before some of you were born!), but it just seemed like their last album was a rehash of old themes, done again. Like a formula - there were no new ideas. Are they going to become like the Rolling Stones, seemingly making the same album over and over? (Although the last couple of Stones albums were pretty good!)

PLUS, I always seem to see U2 doing something OTHER than music. The whole iPod thing seemed like a sell out. And Bono is certainly well-intentioned with his debt relief and international efforts, but again he always seems to be "in your face."

Again, I still like them, but will they ever be as good - as inspired and adventurous - as they used to be?

Any other old farts out there with an opinion? And if you think my tastes are far too old, give me an idea of something newer to try. Thanks!

i <3 u2 too and i have no problem with ur tastes and ur right, u've probably liked them since b4 i was born (im still in school) but i think that the all the "old" music is way better that the high majority of today's music thats all about getting high and s.e.x.

never give up hope on bono!

Missed the stones one but I may look up. U2 will be okay. They have talent, for now I live with their older songs.

The last stones album actually was pretty good. I put it on the ipod shuffle and really liked one of the songs without even knowing who did it at first. To me that's good. I grew up with the classics but would rather hear a good new band. The problem is many groups I hear and like die out after a couple of releases.

Good example, I'm listening to Blur as I type this. Only know one song. ???

My thoughts on U2....actually this was the first band I saw in concert in 1983 on the War tour. I think they really went downhill after The Joshua Tree. They used to be a great band and Boy has to be my favorite album of theirs, but I don't bother to listen to their newer stuff.....they just lost something in my eyes.

U2 is extremely overrated they're a band that does n e thing in its power to steal the spotlight. all there songs r the same with yea's oohs and giberish to fill in spots where they couldn't think of an interesting thing to say
