He has depression and is mad at me for not understanding even though I have stood by him, tolerated his moods, and taken him back three times now after he's left hoping to find happiness somewhere else. SURPRISE!!!...It's not out there. And by the way......we have two boys together who are now 10 and 8.

He has seen several doctors, tried several medications and blamed several different people for his unhappiness but this part of his family is always most affected.

I can not help him out of his moods. I have tried everything and am never right because his needs change as soon as he gets what he wants. So we have learned to continue our lives, leave him alone and wait for him to get out of "cave" mode.

GOD, DON'T GET ME STARTED! HES A MAN. THEY'RE IDIOTS! IT SUCKS. HOWEVER, I KNOW FROM A LOT OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT MENTAL ILLNESS OF ANY KIND IS DIFFICULT AT BEST INCLUDING DEPRESSION. EVEN WHEN A PERSON TAKES THEIR MEDS CORRECTLY IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO GET IT RIGHT AND IT CAN TAKE YEARS. NO ONE WITH REAL MENTAL ILLNESSES ARE JERKS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE. AND YOU CANT BLAME YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU MAY HAVE CHOSEN A DEFECTIVE PARTNER. THATS RIDICULOUS! YOU DO HAVE TO DECIDE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO CONTINUE THIS RELATIONSHIP EVEN IF YOU HAVE KIDS. IF YOU DO CONTINUE AND THE TURMOIL BETWEEN YOU REMAINS A PROBLEM IT WILL EVENTUALLY AFFECT THEM. ITS TOO BAD BUT, AS YOU WELL KNOW, IT SEEMS LIKE THE KIDS ARE ALWAYS THE ONES WHO SUFFER. HOPEFULLY, YOU WILL EITHER WORK IT OUT OR GO SEPARATE WAYS AND FORGIVE EACH OTHER SO YOUR BOYS CAN HAVE BOTH THEIR PARENTS.

You took him back 3 times because you remember the man you once loved. Now you just love the memories and dream. If he is on the correct medication he can be helped. But, you have to decide whether to stick it out or not. You can't bet that he will ever change, but you can change what you do in the future. Good Luck !

You have one sick puppy on your hands. Being mad at him, is no solution.
If you can't take it, and you feel the only way to save your sanity and protect the kids, is distance from him, leave.
If the doctors can't help him, using drugs and whatever (lithium?) you are dead in the water.
What you call stupidity, is really an illness. Would you call someone stupid, because he (or she) had a physical chronic disease?
That's why you should always pick healthy partners

I was once married to a schizophrenic.....theres only so much you can do before you havt to just concentrate on your own happiness(which i do still believe is out there).
Maybe he cant help the things he does...maybe he can.....either way it sounds like youve reached a point where it just really doesnt matter anymore.Think of your own happiness.

It is the depression that is affecting him. Pray for him and your family. I will do the same and thank God for you standing by your man.

You know, even asking such a question makes one question your intelligence. Men are just little boys with bigger(mostly) pee-pee's.
