The books are written for people of ALL ages. They're such great books...many adults enjoy them...and will continue to enjoy them. And I think that's why they've become such timeless classics...

The books have "a children's book" written near the title page (at least in the collection my family got in the 80s). So CS Lewis wrote them for children. I did not read them until I was in my 20s and I love them. I grew up watching the stories on the Wonderworks Series (PBS and BBC) and loved the shows. I think that since the stories are timeless, they appeal to a wider range then just kids (the first was published in 1950). I read all types of fantasy by A Wrinkle in Time or A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L'Engle are pretty close to being my favorites (there is also a movie for Wrinkle-but not that good).

Narnia is for everybody. The point of the series was to convey a message, not only to children, but adults too.

The Chronicles of Narnia was written by C.S. Lewis. It started as bedtime stories he would tell his children. Each night they would ask him to tell them the next adventure. Mr. Lewis would make it up as he went along. Years later his children told him he should write it as a series of books for other children to enjoy. Good writing and storytelling is appreciated by all ages. Don't worry about what others think.

Id like to add that i have adhd and have a hard time sitting still for an entire movie.. I hated LOTRs, hated the books except the hobbit also.

You're friends are trying to be "cool" when they're just denying themselves the pleasure of seeing this movie masterpiece ;-).

I'm 20 years old, so is my girlfriend, and we both loved the movie and read the books as children. Definitely looking forward to the 2nd movie!

I think because of the age of the characters it more likely that children will like these stories more than adults.
