It goes up and stays up for over 18 days. When it stays elevated for this amount of time you know you are pregnant. You have to take your temperature first thing in the morning, before you get up and move around and at the same time every morning or it will not work.

Up, but only by a point or two. It also goes up when you ovulate, but only for a few days. If you are in the habit of taking and charting your temp, you will notice a pattern. You should try to have sex for the few days before your temperature is expected to rise. If it doesn't go down after about two weeks, then chances are, you are pregnant.

as someone who used Natural Family Planning, your temp will rise roughly 10-14 days after "doing the deed". check out www.tcoyf.com it's a fanastic site, and the book was extremely useful.
