To understand is most important.
To be understood is way less important.
It is way better to be informed and correct about a matter then to have everyone certain you are an idot.
An old saying comes to mind.
It is best to keep ones mouth shut and have people think you are an idiot then to open it and remove all doubt.

Both frustrating, but uf you understand you can develop ways to be understood.
If you do not understand, you will be unable to convey what you yourself never understood.
Understanding is the basis for smartness. To be understood is an academic asset.
I'll take 'to understand' over 'to be understood' anyday.

understand. without that how can you convey what is to be understood? can't talk about something you don't know anything about. you could but wouldn't really make sense and you'd come off looking like a babbling idiot

to understand, bc to be understood, you must first understand, (ie, you need to know how to communicate before you can recieve communication)

Oh, I don't care anymore. I understand pretty much everything. It doesn't help much when the people who need to know don't want to know.
