Glasses especially those with frame may trigger fungal deposition. Usually this fungal (greenish alga) will gather around areas such as 2 plastic pads supporting the frame against the nose and surrounding areas of the lenses attached to the frame.

It looks horrible and the stain will remain there after a long time.So in yr personal experience or knowledge that u have, how do you get rid of this?

It's not fungus. It's dirt and a combination of perspiration and oils from the skin. You can use a soft toothbrush with Dawn dish detergent to remove most of the green. I usually remove the nosepads and use a Q-tip with alcohol and swab the green away. Or go to your local optician to get new nose pads and have your frame cleaned by ultrasonic.

Needless to say, the longer you leave the stuff on there, the more difficult it is to remove.

And no, a MILD soap will not harm the various coatings on the lenses.

Never gotten rid of it, but you can prevent it by washing with antibacterial soap once a week to a month. The main thing is after washing make sure you COMPLETELY dry the glasses, and do the same anytime it gets wet or oily, thus that is the cause of the fungus/mold.

Take the nose pieces off and clean them every once in a while.

I use an old toothbrush on mine...just soap and water and scrub away...the bristles are soft enough they won't scratch the lens.

Keeping them clean from the start is the key. Warm, soapy water.

Don't wear them on your feet or your butt?
