women get away with this so much better than men do (SCORE!!) especially if their boss is a man. We can have all kinds of 'secret feminine issues" that totally freak a boss out. Right girls?
One of the best excuses I ever used was my dog fell into the pool and I had to take him to the vet. Which is only a partial fib, because I have taken him to the vet before, and he did fall into the pool. Just not on the same day. hahaha. I live in florida, so we take days off quite frequently to enjoy the sunshine. It's a law.

i just call in sick, bad food
i usually have my boyfriend call b/c i am in the bathroom sick
i don't try to elaborate too much b/c then it'll seem like you planned it too well.
just call in sick and leave it at that, and if they ask, just tell them you didn't feel good. works every time
