Highlite important passages, take notes in class that are as detailed as possible and while reading take your own notes for study purposes. Make sure that you read BEFORE class (tough sometimes I know, but I had a prof who loves to just pick random people with the worst questions...) and get a study group of 2-3 people started for each class. Do this and you'll be guaranteed to earn A's in post secondary (I do, so I know this works...).

Well, what my psychology teacher told me during the last year of college was pretty sensible, and someone up there^ said the same thing. It is important to take breaks. Here's what I did during 2 months of prep leave before my final exams and I got a first class!
Got up at 7, watched TV and did chores till 9:30. Searched for my books after god knows where I threw them from last night of studying. Started studying at 10. I've got a pretty short atention span so studied till 11, then took a 20 mins break, again studied for an hour then another 20 mins break. Did this till 1 in the afternoon. Ate lunch and watched some TV or listened to some music for another hour. Again startyed studying from 2 till 3. Another break for half hr and then from 3:30-4;30. A half hr break followed by an hours study. Then I went out for a walk, came back at 7:30pm. Watched some TV still 9-9:30ish.Quickly went through whatever i had studied for a day and went to bed.
The best part is you end up studyinf for 6+ hours and you dont get exhausted. You can up the hours as your exam days get nearer.

Here's what I did when I was still in school. I'd study, say, a page an hour straight, take an hour break to do whatever, and continue with that cycle until I'm ready for bed. I'd do this about two weeks before an exam.

Pick out the topic sentence in each paragraph of your study materials. Write down the point of each sentence, even if you abbreviate. This will help you remember what you read and what you wrote down. Then, go back and re-read each of your notes and add comments if you can think of anything, or if you have questions that you didn't catch the first time. It got me through college with a 3.8 GPA.

I think it always helps to study with someone else. I would always get someone to quiz me the night before & I would always recall the answers even if it was just remembering some dumb thing they had said that jogged my memory. Especially with biology. My boyfriend would sing the answers as he played his guitar.
