During four decades of prominence, he totaled 324 victories and a host of major league records. Most notable of his milestones are a mystifying seven no-hitters and 12 one-hitters. Did You Know... that Nolan Ryan is the only pitcher to strike out the side on nine pitched balls in both the National League (April 19, 1968) and the American League (July 9, 1972)?

According to my reading from Uncle John's Bathroom reader, Nolan Ryan, when he was with the Houston Astro's was clocked throwing 101.5 mph, but there are many who dispute this number. The problem with how speed guns are used, and when they take their measurements contributes to the discrepancies. Many different pictures have hit 100 mph - 105mph but it varies, ballpark to ballpark. I like Nolan Ryan and most hitters think that his fastball had a little too much zip!
