Because a maid can't be a substitute for parents. That's what a lot of rich parents seem to think. I mean, would a maid really care about some rich family's brats?

I think it is because of if they have a maid they get everything done for them. They don't learn how to be mature and appreciate things so that makes them brats.
I also think it is because they miss out on a lot of love and affection from their parents. At least if a parent was in there cleaning a room they may have the chance to communicate etc.
I think this is an ongoing problem. Research now is just finding out that the first generation of Child Care kids are turning out worse than those that had their mother/father stay at home.

eh, i wouldn't say it's always true, however, in the cases which it is, i would guess it has something to do with lack of parental attention, and being spoiled, never having to do anything for themselves...

because they never learn to respect everyone around them by being responsible for their own messes. they are selfish
