Looking for African American responses, but all is welcome.

After reading and/or hearing Pres. Bush's speech, what do you think? Was this a big stepping stone, or just words?

A stepping stone to trusting one another.

Trust is a two way street where both meet in the middle.

there were some good points, but he just pandered to what they wanted to hear, which is too bad. He's been very good on telling all how he really feels, but was cautious.

Just words. Bush is looking for support for his cronies in the mid-term elections. Why else would he attend the conference now, when he has snubbed it for the last five years? Next on his list will probably be Latinos, then who knows - maybe even a Stonewall event. Anything to drum up support in quarters where the Republican Party is weak.

I think Bush should get a little credit for showing a small amount of maturation in his thinking. (emphasize little)
