a floor scraper with a razor type blade. home depot has one made by qep roberts. you work across the carpet ie side to side. not directly into it. a wallpaper scraper is the same thing on a smaller scale.

Try adhesive remover, you can get it from any auto store. It's used to remover bumper stickers, so it should work for a rubber carpet. Make sure the area is well ventilated.

you need a floor scraper!and scrape it up and all of its adhesive!
