I got a lot of great stuff, but nothing was on my registry. I was very happy with what I got, though.

I hate to put it this way but....Hell NO. I did get things off my registery from closer people (my sister, brother (and wife), the grandmother and greatgrand mother) but people that Im not as close to and friends really didnt. It seems like people buy what they want. I had over 90 items on my babiesrus and only 3 items were purchased (which was all from the same people).....My target registery did do a little better. I also found that the people who have had babies tend to understand the whole registery thing a little more. I didnt mind what I got but I really worked hard on the babies r us registery, I probably spent atleast 2 hours in the store, and no one really got anything from it. Anyway it probably depends on who is buying things for you.

good diaper pail
lots of bibs in case of reflux
at least 5 sleep sacks
at least 10 outfits - babies spit up a lot
forget abt the swing, get a comfy sling to rock baby as u wlk
forget all the toys and nonsense
What i wish i had gotten:
subscription to babys first book club and babybug magazine - that is a great gift
diapers diapers diapers
wipes wipes wipes
easy to prepare meals for me - like a basket with pasta, gravy, breadsticks
gift cert to cvs and grocery store
gas drops - DYE FREE only
cloth diapers to use as burp cloths - my child is 3 and i now use them to clean, to keep carseat clean, etc etc
gift cert for friend to run vaccum, wash laundry, etc. so many people wanted to come over 2 hold the baby - not many wanted to scrub the tub for me or throw a load of wash on!
a journal for my thoughts

Yup, pretty much. I was so shocked too. The gals from my barracks were great!!! They threw a HUGE suprise shower for me and somehow new exactly what I wanted. I hadn't even registered anywhere yet, but they just knew!!
It was grand!

as long as you choose things that have appropriate prices, then usually you'll get everything you want...
remember, generic is not bad and it's cheaper and it's best you get more of what you need over getting few of the name brands...
i chose things that were neutral so that i can use them on any other kids i have...so my second time, i'm going have a diaper shower b/c i already have everything else i need...

i got everything I asked for and more. I got a bassinet, $100 worth of diapers, a hospital kit, and a lovebeat heartbeat blanket from my husbands work. They are always excited about buying for a new baby.

Yeah, I was very lucky. I think that most people these days understand how much it costs to have children and people want to help out.
