Yikes, thats like comparing a crappy car with a crappy car. I dislike both Compaq and HP, but I guess if I had to choose, I would pick the Compaq for their technical support and I prefer their Graphics card.

I would spend the extra $20 and upgrade more RAM.

Much of a computer's expense is in the marketing and support. Components are a minor part of the final expense of any assembled computer. The more integrated a computer, the less expensive it will be to buy, but more expensive to repair. A highly modular unit will be more expensive, but repair is a piece of cake. But at these prices, you decide based on budget and what you want the box to do. There is not one right answer. If you want a high end game machine or a specialty machine, a local shop could custom build one for you. I've always gone with custom builts. They may be a few bucks more up front, but down the road, upgrading is less expensive.

What ever works best for you!

I would go with Compaq because you get a bigger hard drive 40 GB more and it's 20 dollars cheaper. My computer at home is a Hp and at work I have a Dell, I don't see much of a difference. I don't think Compaq is a bad brand name and it's part of Hp. Sounds like a good deal, good luck.

I know ppl have problems with compaq. But HP and Compaq are the same company if my memory serves me right they merged a while back. Either ways as a HP owner I would say buy the Compaq and save some money and get better features.

For gaming they're both fairly fairly on the low scale, however the Intel rig really has the better hand. The HD2000 is a hair more effective then the HD4200, yet for a gaming rig both honestly a mode of gained't play maximum cutting-part video games at any good determination without large lag .

Of these 2...I'd go with the HP. The SATA drive is the biggest plus.

Looks like the Compaq is better. But hey, they're from the same company so I don't think it matters that much.
