I think the "big cheese" at The Louvre would probably earn more than his/her counterpart at The Met, but they are probably in the same ballpark. My guess: $40,000-120,000, depending on tenure.

Well according to this website someone with 20 yrs seniority working at the Louvre would make the US equivalent of $75K per year.
